Crews to start forming Apex 400 parking garage in Glen Ellyn
In downtown Glen Ellyn next week, major deliveries of precast concrete sections needed to build a parking garage are set to begin arriving to the site of an apartment building under construction.
Crews plan to put the first precast sections into place to start forming the parking garage levels at the Apex 400 complex. Work will start at the Glenwood Avenue side of the site, progress eastward toward Main Street and then southward toward Hillside Avenue over the course of ten weeks.
Deliveries will begin at 7 a.m., with the last delivery to the site anticipated to be no later than 2:30 p.m.
While parking closures on Main and Duane streets are not expected during the deliveries, the contractor will be performing a test run to determine if any parking stalls may have to be blocked off at the north side of Duane near the intersection of Main so that the delivery trucks will have enough clearance to turn at the intersection.
According to a village notice, flaggers will be present when trucks are entering and exiting the construction site to help direct traffic and pedestrians, as well as ensure vehicles are not backed up on the train tracks.
