Mechanisms needed to ease voter access
Attention must be paid to election issues across the nation to fine tune the voting process. Mechanisms must support successful techniques to facilitate easy registration, voter verification, early voting, convenient ballot drop-off. ballot processing and vote counting.
Unnecessary draconian I.D. requirements, isolated ballot drop-off cites, red-herring claims of fraud, frequent unnecessary cleansing of registered voter rolls and reduced early voting time periods and days have only one purpose, to reduce voter opportunity, which often cuts hardest against communities and demographics needing them the most.
So far only one party appears to be working to achieve the highest voter turnout, while the other is working to install barriers for voters. The vote is the citizens' most valuable roll in our Democracy. It is where the rubber meets the road. It's time to expand voter participation: not reduce it and Illinois appears to have it right. The offending states should follow our lead
