Three Naperville businesses cited for underage tobacco, nicotine product sales

Three Naperville businesses were cited this month for selling tobacco or alternative nicotine products to an underage buyer during police compliance checks.

The citations were issued to CBD Vape Smoke at 4003 Plainfield/Naperville Road, Speedway at 631 Route 59 and Murphy Express at 2804 Hassert Blvd., according to a news release from Naperville police.

Compliance checks were performed at 71 establishments to determine whether local retailers are following tobacco laws, which prohibit the sale of tobacco and alternative nicotine products to anyone under 21, police said. A grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services Tobacco Enforcement Program assists with Naperville's efforts to educate retailers about the importance of verifying a customers' age before selling the products.
