Gas-tax vote was insult

If you reside in Lake County and you're represented by the following 14 board members (Altenberg, Casbon, Clark, Durkin, Frank, Hart, Kye, Parekh, Roberts, Ross-Cunningham, Simpson, Vealtizek, Wasik, Wilke) these people just slapped all of you in the face by voting yes for a gas tax. I applaud Diane Hewitt of Waukegan who went against party lines and voted "based upon her constituents; unlike the other 14 Democrats on the board.

So many people struggle to make ends meet in our county and they impose a tax now? You 14 board members could care less about your constituents you represent. And to make matters worse, Mr. Wilke is quoted as saying, "Gas tax is voluntary. People can choose to drive a car that gets better gas mileage and change the car." Really? How can someone who's struggling now afford a newer, more expensive car? This comment is the most arrogant, out-of-touch comment made by a board member. Tell people who drive for their living it's "voluntary."

Well, living in Round Lake Beach, I'm close enough to Wisconsin that starting July 1, I'll be buying all my gas in Wisconsin. You 14 members have failed the residents of Lake County and all should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope your constituents vote you out next election.
