The vaccination process is unjust
The COVID vaccine deployment in Illinois has been poorly planned and executed. While states like West Virginia started developing a plan for vaccinating their residents in March 2020, Illinois waited until November of 2020 to move forward. For those of us who miss the age 65 priority group by a couple of years, we are out of luck and in limbo. And when it's finally our turn, we're lumped into a huge group - ages 18-64.
After nearly a year of staying home, wearing a mask on the very rare occasion we leave the house and following the rules, it is even more galling to learn that people now included as a priority are those who are in jail and smokers. Out of state people who work in Illinois are able to be vaccinated in Illinois. What's next - prioritizing gang members, alcoholics, hit men, sex offenders, and foreign tourists? This system is unjust.
