Open burning restrictions for unincorporated Lake County reinstated
Temporary open burning restrictions for unincorporated Lake County have been reinstated through June 9. Open burning of landscape waste is allowed from sunrise to sunset only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Open burning from sunrise to sunset any day of the week is permitted if it occurs at least 500 feet from the nearest habitable structure. Some unincorporated areas are also subject to the open burning rules of their local fire protection district, which may be more restrictive. Temporary ordinances restricting open burning of landscape waste were enacted in 2020 in recognition of the increased risk of negative health impacts on individuals infected with COVID-19.
