Supervisor candidate is the one to trust

In 1861, Lincoln wrote, "No men living are more worthy to be trusted than those who toil up from poverty." Lincoln was not bashing those who inherited wealth; he was praising those who understood and benefited from the free market. This April, many of us will be asked to choose who will run our local townships, school boards and other local agencies.

Whom do you trust? One side is calling for expanded services and focus on social justice while the other is defending the taxpayer. Listen closely to what they say. Who is really standing with Abraham Lincoln and in support of those "who toil up from poverty?"

I remember the first time I met Andy John Kalkounos several years ago. We were talking about politics and how to get more young people involved. Andy is part-time owner with his father of the Chicago Prime Steakhouse and the Chicago Prime Italian restaurants in Schaumburg. He grew up in restaurants and has always had a very close connection with his staff. I was impressed not only by how much he cared for them, but how well he knew them. Andy John, was telling me about the concerns of his staff and how they just wanted the chance to become successful. These are the people who "toil up from poverty" and these were the people that Andy John was advocating for.

I trust Andy John Kalkounos for Palatine Township supervisor. While, the other side is promising expanded social justice and lower carbon footprints, Andy John and the entire slate of Republicans are fighting to build a "prosperous system which opens the way to all."
