Endorsement: Ladesic for Glen Ellyn village president

Glen Ellyn voters face a difficult choice in picking a new village president to replace Diane McGinley, who stepped down early to move to Texas with her family.

Sitting Trustee Mark Senak and former Trustee Peter Ladesic are running for the village president seat. Both have impressive credentials and a strong understanding of the issues facing the community.

Backed by the village's influential Civic Betterment Party, Senak says he would work to solve problems and ensure the village government is transparent and fiscally responsible. Senak, an attorney, said he would go out into the community to hear the concerns of residents and business owners.

Ladesic, a home builder, is running as an independent in the election. He says he is concerned about residents being forced to move out of Glen Ellyn because of high property taxes. He said the village needs more economic development to increase its tax base.

When it comes to their leadership style, both candidates say they would work cooperatively with the village board to get things done. But while Senak has served six years as a village trustee, we believe Ladesic's 12 years of experience as a trustee gives him an edge.

Ladesic is a longtime volunteer in Glen Ellyn. He says he wants to use that knowledge to help improve the village.

We think his deeper level of experience gives him a slight edge in the race for village president and he gets our endorsement.
