Do politicians have ulterior motives?
How many citizens realize that the United States Congress may have another reason for pushing through a federal $15 per hour minimum wage law? Congressmen and senators may express sincerity on providing a "living-wage," but they can foresee the huge revenue windfall as a result of the increased federal income taxes.
They would avoid having to vote for future tax increases to deal with the growing National Debt. Then add the additional FICA and Medicare dollars that will be paid by both workers and their employers on these higher wages.
Plus, the state of Illinois will see the same significant increases in state income tax revenue in the coming years.
