Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' coming to Round Lake

A new Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins is coming to Round Lake this fall.

Construction for the restaurant combo is expected to begin this spring at 751 N Fairfield Road, south of the Marathon Gas Station.

"I think after years of making things business friendly and working to get things done as expeditiously as possible, thank God it's all starting to work," Mayor Dan MacGillis said. "We just kept planning and planning to attract more businesses. We're happier than you can imagine that Dunkin' is going to be a part of us."

The 2,500-square-foot building is designed for indoor and outdoor dining and comes with two drive-through lanes, one specifically for mobile orders.

Owner Suresh Patel has two other Dunkin' locations, in Round Lake Beach and Round Lake Park. Patel will build the combined Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins fronting on Fairfield Road plus a small commercial building fronting on Route 134, with the two lots joined at the rear.

Director of Economic & Community Development Katie Parkhurst said the project will cost $1.5 million and annual revenue is projected to be $900,000. Parkhurst said the location is near the Metra station and will draw traffic from commuters.

"This is something that we've been seeking for years," Parkhurst said. "It fills the need the village has for a quick service restaurant and it has been well-received by staff and residents."

Suresh Patel could not be immediately reached for comment.
