Bartlett retirement community selects new management team

BARTLETT - Tim Lynch was recently named executive director of the Oaks of Bartlett by ER Senior Management. With more than 20 years' experience in the health care and senior living fields, Lynch began his career as a physical therapist and has held management positions in hospitals as well as retirement communities on both coasts and in Texas.

Lynch's appointment is part of a reorganization that includes a new name for the suburban continuing care retirement community, formerly known as Clare Oaks.

Other members of the newly announced leadership team are:

• Heather Penniman, director of nursing. A resident of Cortland, Penniman is a graduate of Chamberlain University College of Nursing in Addison. She most recently worked as assistant director of nursing at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

• Steve Johnson, Assisi Healthcare interim administrator. In a career spanning four decades, Johnson held administrative positions throughout the Midwest before establishing his own consultancy based in Peoria. Referring to Johnson's "interim" status, Lynch explained, "He's here to help us assess the leadership needs for our health care programs and to advise on the selection of the best candidate for the post."

• Tammy Holzer, director of sales, was promoted from her previous position as director of community life at Clare Oaks, where she has worked since 2008. Holzer, who in her first month in this new role completed contracts for three new residents, walks to work each day from her Bartlett home about a quarter-mile away.

• Nikki Carroll, director of community life, was promoted from her previous job as resident life coordinator. She joined the community in 2017 and now lives in St. Charles.

• Cindy Altmayer, director of assisted living, remains in her current role to which she was promoted from assisted living social services manager when she was hired in 2016. She lives in Geneva.

• Dawn Travis, director of human resources, comes to The Oaks at Bartlett from analogous positions in the fields of health care, manufacturing and property management. A resident of Griffith, Indiana, she is a member of the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.

• Carl Canella continues in his current position as director of facilities management, a post he has held for 10 years. A resident of Elburn, he oversees all the maintenance and security at The Oaks at Bartlett; he also is a board member of Collaborative Healthcare Urgency Group, an Illinois-based disaster preparedness organization.

• Mario Plata, director of dining services, also retains his longtime role since 2011 as the man in charge of all meal preparation and food supplies. He is a resident of Oswego.
