North Chicago man dies following I-94 crash

A North Chicago man died after a crash on Int. 94 near Half Day Road in Deerfield about 8 p.m. Thursday, Illinois State Police said in a news release.

The man, 46, was in a 2018 black Honda CRV stopped in the right lane of traffic with no lights activated on Int. 94 westbound a half-mile past the intersection with Half Day Road, police said.

The vehicle was struck by a semi truck that was also in the right lane. The driver of the Honda was transported to a hospital and later died, police said. The driver of the truck, Lance E. Woodrum, 67, of Chicago, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The left four lanes of Interstate 94 westbound were closed for the traffic crash investigation; all lanes were reopened about midnight.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
