Morrison delivers valentines to senior homes

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, State Rep. Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) delivered hundreds of student-created Valentine's Day cards to senior citizens in his 54th District.

About a month ago, the representative's office encouraged students throughout the district to make cards to help encourage local seniors who are still largely isolated in nursing homes.

Morrison visited Greencastle and Solstice Senior Living, both in Palatine, to drop off the cards made by students at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine and Holy Family Catholic Academy in Inverness.

"I'm grateful for the eagerness of these schools and students to help make a difference and brighten the day of a senior citizen in our community," said Morrison.

"It's been almost a year since many of these seniors began to be isolated to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. These have been difficult times for them and for our community, but through this project, we hope to spread some cheer."

Due to the response from local schools and the positive feedback from the senior community, Morrison looks to continue this card making program for future holidays.
