Naperville police find two stolen cars, arrest three men in Chicago carjackings
Naperville police found two stolen vehicles and arrested three men on felony charges stemming from armed carjackings in Chicago, authorities said.
Damien C. Plummer, 21, of Chicago, and Hammond, Indiana, residents Tommie J. Coleman, 18, and Karl Erwin Brown III, 20, were each charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a news release.
Naperville police found an unoccupied car Thursday on the 1400 block of Fairway Drive and started conducting surveillance after determining it had been taken in an armed carjacking in Chicago, officials said. Officers watched the three men enter and start the vehicle before taking them into custody, police said.
During their search, police recovered two handguns, ammunition, drugs and keys to another vehicle in the parking lot, which had also been stolen in an armed carjacking, officials said.
Coleman is also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of illegal possession of ammunition, Naperville police said. Brown had two active warrants out for his arrest and also was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
