Big 12 sets makeup dates for 9 COVID-postponed women's games
IRVING, Texas (AP) - The Big 12 has announced the makeup dates for nine women's basketball games postponed this season because of COVID-19 protocols. Those games will played during a nine-day span that includes the full week before the conference tournament.
Kansas State has four makeup games, starting Feb. 27 at No. 7 Baylor, the 10-time defending Big 12 champion. The Wildcats host TCU on March 1 and No. 19 West Virginia on March 3, then play in the league's final regular-season game March 7 at Oklahoma.
The Sooners and Kansas both have three makeup games, while Baylor, TCU and West Virginia have two each. Texas and Iowa State only have one. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State have none.
On the original Big 12 schedule, every team was set to finish the regular season with a game Feb. 23, except for Baylor at Texas on March 1 for a national broadcast on ESPN2. But the league left that open gap for potential makeup games before its postseason tournament March 11-14 in Kansas City.
The scheduled makeup games are:
Feb. 27: Kansas State at Baylor (originally scheduled for Jan. 10); West Virginia at Kansas (originally scheduled for Jan. 2); and Oklahoma at Texas (originally scheduled for Jan. 12).
March 1: TCU at Kansas State (originally scheduled for Jan. 14).
March 3: Kansas at Iowa State (originally scheduled for Jan. 6); and West Virginia at Kansas State (originally scheduled for Jan. 5).
March 4: TCU at Oklahoma (originally scheduled for Jan. 9).
March 6: Baylor at Kansas (originally scheduled for Jan. 13).
March 7: Kansas State at Oklahoma (originally scheduled for Jan. 2).
