Elk Grove Village man gets 9 years in child porn case
A 22-year-old Elk Grove Village man was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to federal child pornography charges.
Austin Burchert pleaded guilty last year to charges of transportation of child pornography after he shared a video and multiple images of child pornography in a group chat with about 50 people, including an undercover federal law enforcement agent, in February 2018.
When he was arrested, agents found 3,000+ images and 54 videos involving minors in sexually explicit conduct.
In addition to his prison sentence, Burchert must pay $65,000 in restitution to known victims depicted in the videos and images, prosecutors said.
Federal prosecutors said Elk Grove Village police, Deerfield police and the Illinois attorney general's office provided "substantial assistance" in the investigation of Burchert.
