Yes, stop them first

Not to sound glib, but am I the only one that has thought of putting a barrier that goes up and across the road at the start of the street to the bridge in both directions that any vehicle that is too tall would run into and destroy their truck before they go and damage the bridge?

I know when you enter a parking garage there are things hanging that your truck hits if you are too tall for some place later in the structure. How is it that those trucks get all the way to the bridge before their truck is damaged?
