AAUW in Tri-Cities invites entries for Creative Writing Contest

The Batavia-Geneva-St. Charles Branch of the American Association of University Women is sponsoring its Creative Writing Contest for the 42nd consecutive year.

All interested seventh- and eighth-grade students in the Tri-Cities (Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles) may enter.

Entries may be submitted in any one of three categories: fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

Medals and certificates of achievement will be awarded in each category for the three entries that are judged best by the AAUW Creative Writing Contest Committee.

Seventh- and eighth-grade entries will be judged separately. There also will be three honorable mention awards in each category for both grades.

For questions, please contact the event chair Maryann Stearn at membershipaauw@yahoo.com.

Student from public schools, private, parochial and home schooled may submit an entry.

Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19.

Winners will be honored at a ceremony in April where a short excerpt from their piece will be read by an AAUW Branch member. This will be via Zoom or in person based on restrictions.
