Bolingbrook-based Ulta Beauty names 'Black-ish' actress as adviser

BOLINGBROOK — Ulta Beauty said actress Tracee Ellis Ross, who is also CEO and founder of Pattern Beauty, has become the company's diversity and inclusion adviser. In that roll, Ross will provide counsel, inspiration and drive accountability on matters of diversity, the nation's largest beauty retailer said.

The announcement was made as Ulta Beauty shared its 2021 diversity and inclusion commitments, which reflect a planned investment of more than $25 million, “with a keen focus on brand amplification and support; assortment growth; and equitable, welcoming guest and associate experiences,” the company said.

“As the country's beauty retail leader, we believe we have the power to shape how the world sees beauty and as such, we have a responsibility to inspire positive change and drive greater diversity, inclusivity and equity,” said Mary Dillon, CEO.

Ross, who is also a producer and director, is best known for her lead role in the TV series “Black-ish.” Her Pattern Beauty company offers a hair-care line for curly hair.
