Keep fire hydrants clear of snow
With another snowstorm approaching and with 4 to 8 more inches of accumulation forecast, the Bartlett Fire Protection District is asking residents to help keep fire hydrants clear.
Snow should be moved about 3 feet away from the hydrant and a pathway cleared to the roadway.
Do not stand in the street when clearing around the hydrant, and be careful not to slip and fall into the roadway. Also, be sure that you are physically able to clear the hydrant. Consider helping elderly friends, neighbors, or those with medical conditions to keep their fire hydrants clear.
People can Adopt a Hydrant in a program the village and the Bartlett Fire Protection District launched last year. Go to village.bartlett.il.us to sign up.
