Vaccine distribution failure at all levels

Your editorial in the Jan. 26 Daily Herald is right on point. "Illinois seniors need answers." I would like to share my experience.

I am a disabled Vietnam veteran in my seventies who lives with his wife. We both signed up for the Lake County All Vax website on the very first day it was available well over a month ago. I signed up at the veterans COVID-19 site at the same time. I have received two ALL Vax emails telling me of the great things they are doing but no vaccine appointment. I have received one email from the VA telling me the great things they are doing but no vaccine appointment.

Hearing from the governor that the group we are in (1B) would be eligible beginning Jan. 25, I promptly went to work trying to sign up on Walgreens, CVS, Osco and Walmart pharmacy websites. For three days now I have tried these sites. They are simply unworkable. Don't the people who put this stuff up ever try to use them?

I get an email from Congressman Brad Schneider telling me to sign up on the All Vax website that I already registered at. And of course he had to tell me how "Unifying against COVID-19" is so great. This afternoon I get the Breaking News from the Daily Herald and it has the vaccine numbers in it. Does anybody in a position to make this work look at this?

As of Jan. 26 Illinois has received 1,764,675 vaccines and given out 719,995 doses. This means that over one million are sitting in a cooler somewhere.

This all just goes to your point. Failure of government at all levels.

And the to add more insult, the Lake County Fairgrounds vaccine site is less than a mile from my home and I can't even get a place in line while one million vaccine doses go unused.
