Aurora shooting victim identified as South Elgin man

A 22-year-old man who was killed Monday in an Aurora shooting was identified Wednesday as Emmanuel Martinez of South Elgin.

Aurora police responded about noon Monday to the 2900 block of Worcester Lane after an initial report about a suspicious vehicle. As the police were on their way, more calls came in reporting that people in two cars were shooting at each other, according to Paris Lewbel, a spokesman from the Aurora Police Department. Officers spotted one of the vehicles and pursued it to the parking lot of Rush Copley Medical Center, where they found Martinez in the back seat with multiple gunshot wounds, Lewbel said.

Martinez died in an emergency room at Rush Copley Medical Center shortly after 1 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Kane County Coroner.

No arrests have been made in the case, Lewbel said. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Aurora Police Department at (630) 256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
