Grayslake Arts Alliance to hold poetry workshop
Learn the ins and outs of writing poetry in a new virtual workshop planned by the Grayslake Arts Alliance.
"A Poet in Everyone" will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, and will cost $15, payable on the GAA website, www.grayslakeartsalliance.org. Registrants can find the class by clicking on the "Education" tab.
The class will be taught by Tish De La Mora, who will walk students through the process of writing a poem with the goal of producing their own poem by the end of the workshop.
De La Mora has published three books of her poetry: "Ink on Paper" (2017), "when willow weeps" (2018) and "Don't Let Me Fail" (2020). Her books combine poetry with photography.
Students are responsible for providing their own pencil, pen and paper or journal. Students younger than 12 must attend the Zoom event with a parent.
"A Poet in Everyone" is the second virtual workshop offered by the GAA. The third, "Introduction to Mail Art," taught by artist Bonnie Schorr, is scheduled for March 14.
Part of the proceeds from the workshops will help the GAA, a registered 501c3 charity, fulfill its mission of bringing the arts to Grayslake through education, participation and development.
