Grading the Bears

In reference to Mr. Arkush's grading of the Chicago Bears regular season as an overall B-minus, I cannot help but wonder what grading system he incorporated into his analysis. The Bears' final average for the season is .500 or 50%. In all of my years in school (grammar, high, and college) if anyone scored 50%, your paper/report card came back to you with a big red "F". Since when is 50% now considered a B-minus? Perhaps Mr. Arkush could share with us readers the grading algorithm he uses and going further what institutions of higher learning are using it. Although now retired, I for one would like to attend one of those schools to simultaneously chase a double doctorate.
