Downers Grove real estate office donates $1,000 to Downers Grove Area FISH
The Downers Grove office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago and the firm's philanthropic arm, the Kindness Foundation, announced that they donated $1,000 to Downers Grove Area FISH in December, an organization dedicated to helping improve people's quality of life.
The nonprofit offers a food pantry, clothes closet, financial assistance, and transportation. The money is part of a $40,000 donation pool to be distributed to local food pantries this year in place of the company's annual holiday party.
The Downers Grove office chose to support FISH because of the organization's dedication to helping people in the immediate areas of Darien, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont, and Woodridge. They strive to provide a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for clients and volunteers alike.
Terri Doney, vice president and managing broker of the firm's Downers Grove and Hinsdale offices, said, "We are thrilled to be able to make this donation to FISH to help them provide food for our community. When you hear some of the projected statistics about food insecurity in DuPage County from Impact DuPage, it's really sobering. They project that more than 1 in every 10 adults will be food insecure. Our office has an ongoing relationship with FISH and we are so glad that we could assist them with their mission at this time."
The Downers Grove office is one of the company's nineteen participating offices throughout Chicagoland, as well as in Indiana and Michigan. Each office chose a 501(c)(3) organization from their local community to support and embody the mission of the Kindness Foundation which is to support meaningful local initiatives that improve the communities the company serves and enhances the quality of life for fellow citizens.
