Lake Zurich to Rock the Block with its annual street party

The village of Lake Zurich is preparing to host its annual Rock The Block from 5-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in the heart of downtown Lake Zurich.

Three live bands will take the stage for an evening of music, food, and fun for adults. Younger partygoers can visit the free face painter and balloon artist from 5-7 p.m. in Lions Park.

Held on Main Street between Old Rand Road and Church Street in downtown Lake Zurich, Main Street will be closed from Church Street to Old Rand beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the event.

Musical entertainment will play on a covered stage on the corner of Old Rand Road and Main Street. Three bands will perform from 5-11 p.m. The night will begin with Lava Rock at 5 p.m., Libido Funk Circus at 6:45 p.m., and regional country favorite Bella Cain at 9 p.m.

Admission to the event is free, but no outside food, beverages, or coolers will be allowed. Pets are also not allowed. Parking is available in various lots around downtown and on certain side streets.

Food trucks and local restaurants will line Main Street selling various food options, including full meals, desserts and snacks. No outside alcohol is allowed, and those wishing to consume alcohol will need to have their I.D. checked and obtain a wristband.

Beer and wine tickets will be available for $5 for domestic brands, $6 for craft beers and seltzers, and $7 for wine. Food vendors will sell other nonalcoholic drinks.

Rock The Block is the result of a continued effort by Lake Zurich Mayor Tom Poynton and the village trustees to bring more special events to the community.
