Submitted by the Navy Office of Community Outreach

Naval Station Great Lakes has announced their Sailors of the Quarter for the first quarter for 2021.

Master-at-Arms 1st Class Douglass Hawkins from Lake Villa was named Sailor of the Quarter for Great Lakes. Hawkins works as the security department operations and training leading petty officer for Great Lakes. He has been in the Navy for 15 years and at Great Lakes for a year.

"I feel it is a great honor to be recognized as the NSGL Sailor of the Quarter," Hawkins said. "All of my peers work exceptionally hard and are equally deserving of this. To be recognized by our leadership for my efforts and dedication means a lot to me. It proves what I have believed for the past 15 years of my career: you show up every day, do your duty to the best of your ability, work with those toward common goals and your efforts will be recognized."
