Condoleezza Rice featured speaker for Town-Warming
The Barrington Cultural Commission is pleased to welcome keynote speakers and panelists for the 4th Annual Barrington Town-Warming - a re-creation of the robust lecture series held in Barrington during the Depression era.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, with this year's theme being "What Now? Looking Ahead to the Post-Pandemic World."
The Town-Warming will be held virtually via Zoom (no in-person tickets will be sold), with tickets available for $75 per household. Tickets include a post-event link to watch the event until Saturday, Feb. 6. The event's presenting sponsor is Northern Trust and Keynote Speaker Sponsors are Greg and Anna Brown.
This year's keynote speaker is 66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who will appear in a virtual fireside chat with Motorola President and CEO Greg Brown.
The day also features a virtual discussion of postelection politics between Brown and William M. Daley, vice chairman of public affairs for Wells Fargo and the 32nd U.S. Secretary of Commerce under President Bill Clinton.
A four-person panel will discuss "Future Trends After the Pandemic" and will include Jessica Hector-Hsu of the Regional Transportation Authority; Ron Lunt of Hamilton Partners; Joyce St. Clair of The Northern Trust Company; and Dr. Avis Proctor of Harper College.
Historian Barbara Benson will also give a perspective on the role of Barrington's White House during the 1918 influenza pandemic, while the Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque will provide inspirational opening remarks.
