Releasing vaccine is health issue, not political

David Swanson didn't do his homework before writing his opinion piece published on Jan. 14. He claims Joe Biden isn't "following the science" because he wants to release all of the vaccine to the states.

The problem with David's assertion is that Biden isn't the only one eschewing this policy. Alex Azar Health and Human Service Secretary under the Trump administration announced on Jan. 12 that they will start releasing more doses of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to states immediately instead of holding back the second dose. He believes states should expand vaccinations to everyone age 65 and older, in an effort to get the vaccine to more people immediately.

This announcement came days before David's opinion piece. I grew up in a Republican household and was taught to research issues, respect and value others' opinions and care for my neighbors. What is happening in this country where our elected officials won't wear masks to protect their neighbors, make campaign ads with firearms vowing to fight against the radicals and our citizens don't research the issues?

We need to do our research and check the facts before we draw our conclusions. By calling out Joe Biden and not the Trump administration, it turns releasing the vaccine into a political issue. It is not. It is an attempt to save lives and the policy was started by the Trump administration
