Agape Connection to honor Martin Luther King Jan. 17 with guest Rev. Raphael Warnock

On Sunday, Jan. 17, Agape Connection, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization in Aurora, will host its 20th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day celebration virtually beginning at 3 p.m.

Since 1991, Agape Connection Inc. has been providing educational, cultural and other initiatives that impact the children and youth of the western suburbs.

For the last decade, Agape has accomplished its mission by developing and implementing cultural and educational programming for youth and children through various initiatives.

As society transforms into an even more diverse atmosphere in the 21st century, Agape intends to prepare young people to be leaders who are knowledgeable, appreciative, and tolerant of a variety of cultural expressions.

The celebration program honoring the late Civil Rights leader will feature as guest speaker the Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since 2005, Dr. Warnock has served as the senior pastor. The son of two Pentecostal pastors, Dr. Warnock responded to the call of ministry at an early age, and at age 35, became the fifth and the youngest person ever called to the senior pastorate of Ebenezer Baptist Church, founded in 1886. He is the new senator-elect for Georgia.

The virtual celebration is open to the public.

Tickets are valued at $75 and can be ordered now by visiting agapeconnectioninc.square.site.
