We can, should open safely
It is interesting to see who in this state are in favor of lockdowns to fight the virus. This group would include the governor, Chicago mayor, many other Illinois politicians, government employees, teachers unions and the media.
Of course, these individuals have not been affected economically, not been furloughed, but are quick to say "shut it down."
I wonder if they would be so quick to support lockdowns if their income were stopped and they had to fight with the useless IDES bureaucracy for their paltry unemployment benefits. Somehow I do not think so.
There are ways to open up the economy safely, but instead, the unaffected people in charge say "let them eat cake".
Thousands of people are suffering in this state, life savings gone, and those in charge do not seem to care. The media certainly has no interest in pressuring the governor regarding the IDES debacle.
The economy must be opened up now, safe and smart is doable.
