Chicago man charged with Bartlett package thefts
Bartlett police arrested a Chicago man Tuesday in connection with several reports of packages being stolen from front porches in the village last week.
Carlos B. Smith, 27, of Chicago is charged with two misdemeanor counts of theft, police said.
According to Bartlett police, officers were dispatched to Waterford Road on Dec. 22 after several residents reported that delivery packages containing children's toys and clothing had been taken from their porches.
After an investigation that included a review of video surveillance footage, police identified Smith and took him into custody at his workplace in Bartlett, authorities said.
Smith has been released on a $100 personal recognizance bond and assigned a court date of Feb. 2 at the DuPage County courthouse in Wheaton.
