Arlington Heights house fire caused by candle

Arlington Heights firefighters quickly extinguished a small house fire Sunday night that was caused by a holiday candle.

No one was injured and the home remained habitable, authorities said.

Firefighters received the call to the house on the 300 block of Waverly Road at about 9:23 p.m. Sunday. The fire was found to be confined to a sunroom and was extinguished within 10 minutes of arrival, authorities said.

The room and its contents together sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to the Arlington Heights Fire Department.
