Former Bulls player Dunn still working his way back from knee injury

The Bulls felt the loss of Kris Dunn right away Wednesday. He was their best defensive player the past three seasons, but joined Atlanta as a free agent last month.

While the Hawks were lighting up the scoreboard in the first quarter, it sounded like Dunn won't be making his Atlanta debut anytime soon.

Dunn was not in uniform Wednesday because of a knee injury and Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce gave an update before the game.

"He's worked out with us," Pierce said. "He hasn't done anything contact, he's done some one-on-ones, very limited contact. Really just trying to strengthen and grow and see where he is each day. But he hasn't done anything beyond the limited activity. He's done a lot of team stuff, just noncontact."

Dunn missed at least 20 games in all three of his seasons with the Bulls. He hasn't played in a game since Bulls teammate Thad Young took a charge and fell back into Dunn's knee early in a game at Brooklyn last Jan. 31.

In fact, there were three ex-Bulls on Atlanta's injured list. Besides Dunn, Rajon Rondo (safety protocols) and Tony Snell (foot) also did not play.
