MCC offering certification in supply chain management
McHenry County College Workforce Training is offering three certificate programs focusing on supply chain management and logistics.
Certified by the University of Missouri, the Circular Economy and Supply Chain Management Certificate course provides learners with the tools they need to design a supply chain that eliminates waste and enables the recovery and reuse of all materials at the highest value possible.
Daytime classes will be offered from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 2, 3, and 4. A six-week evening class will be available from 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 17 to March 24. The price for this program is $1,450 and includes 24 hours of instruction.
Logistics Certificate is a second course, also certified by Mizzou, that focuses on the part of supply chain management that plans, implements, and controls the flow of goods from the point of origin to the point of consumption.
A daytime Logistics class will take place from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Feb. 9, 10, and 11, and an evening six-week session will be available from 5-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 16 to March 23. This course offers 24 hours of instruction and is priced at $1,450.
A new offering this January is the Introduction to Supply Chain Management Certificate. Participants will be provided instruction on supply chain strategy, alignment, and processes and learn to create their own supply chain strategy.
A daytime session is available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 18-22. An evening 10-week program session will take place Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. This program, certified by the University of Missouri, provides 40 hours of instruction and costs $2,035.
All three programs are led by logistics expert Chuck Nemer and are offered in a remote learning format. Nemer is a trainer/consultant with 40 years of experience in supply chain management, Lean, leadership, and APICS.
"These programs cover the complete supply chain, giving you the foundational knowledge you need to advance your operation forward," said Nemer.
"We not only provide classroom instruction, but we create hands-on opportunities for you to apply these techniques so you can easily incorporate them on the job."
Over the course of his career, Nemer has taught - and continues to teach - professional certification classes for APICS and professional development seminars and programs both on his own and on behalf of colleges to local and regional manufacturing firms.
He currently teaches Operations Management at an urban-based university in St. Paul, Minnesota.
"Supply chain management is all about coordinating resources to get a job done," Nemer said. "To me, it isn't rocket science - it's common sense - and it's guided by a few natural laws that help you determine what you need to do."
