State should get its financial house in order
Regarding Mr. Martire's commentary in the Daily Herald recently: Voters in Illinois weren't swayed or tricked by "a bunch of mega-rich individuals who didn't want to pay more in taxes." We simply know that if the Fair Tax had passed muster, it wouldn't be long before the tax brackets would increase for the middle class as well; not just "the wealthiest 3%."
Illinois government has long failed to live within it's financial means. Maybe the folks who run things ought to try to get their financial house in order and find ways to live within their current financial means like the rest of us do.
