We expect better from state leaders

In light of the closure of the probe into Madigan's dealing with ComEd, it is concerning how the Democrats on the committee are defending Madigan by claiming his apparent demands were mere job recommendations. An ethical politician shouldn't be engaged in behavior that looks like a quid pro quo such as making a job recommendation that can easily be confused with a political favor (especially for a company as heavily regulated as ComEd). Even if we take the Democrats' claims at face value, this defense of "not technically a crime" doesn't suggest they have the ethical standards voters should expect of their leaders.
