Those we've lost to COVID-19: Diane and Dalis Ramonas of Aurora

COVID-19 has taken the lives of more than 15,000 people in Illinois, including about 6,200 from the suburbs. We're sharing the stories of some of those we've lost.

Naperville's Loaves and Fishes charity pantry lost a dedicated duo in the spring when Diane and Dalis Ramonas died of complications of COVID-19.

Diane Ramonas, 61, was the organization's community relations manager for five years, and Dalis, 63, was a volunteer. The couple, who married in 1984, raised their family in Naperville and had recently moved to Aurora.

Dalis Ramonas died March 28. Diane Ramonas died April 30.

Besides working for the pantry, Diane was involved with the Naperville Woman's Club. Dalis was a longtime ski instructor at Four Lakes Village in Lisle, in addition to being an engineering software account manager for Tata Technologies.

They are survived by a son, a daughter, and Dalis' mother.- Susan Sarkauskas
