Canadian Pacific Holiday Train donates $10K to Bensenville-Wood Dale Food Pantry

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, the Bensenville-Wood Dale Food Pantry received $10,000 from the Canadian Pacific Railroad Holiday Train.

This marks the third year in a row that Canadian Pacific Rail has made a $10,000 donation to the food pantry which services approximately 100 families a week.

The Holiday Train serves as a way to raise awareness to local hunger issues in the United States and Canada.

The train has stopped in Bensenville in 2018 and 2019 and typically features free live musical entertainment, giveaways, refreshments, and a check presentation to the food pantry.

Due to the pandemic, Canadian Pacific Rail hosted a free virtual concert and will continue donating to food pantry's around the county.

Streaming took place on the Canadian Pacific Facebook page and featured free live musical entertainment from Serena Ryder, The Trews, JoJo Mason, Logan Staats, and Kelly Prescott.

"Getting up on the CP Rail Holiday Train stage is one of my favorite parts of the year," said Village President Frank DeSimone. "It is unfortunate that they will not be making their stop in Bensenville, but we are extremely grateful for their donation and continued support each year. Thank you to all the volunteers at the food pantry for their tireless efforts to feed our community."
