Respect promotes healing

President-elect Joe Biden has called for all Americans to wear masks. He said it's the patriotic thing to do. It's a reasonable and appropriate request to help protect, heal and unify our country.

I hope he will make a similar request to all Americans to stand during the playing of our national anthem for all the same reasons.

Willing acts of simple respect can go a long way toward healing and promoting understanding between and among others.
