Downers Grove approves tax levy

Downers Grove commissioners recently voted to approve its aggregate tax levy for 2020.

The tax levy totals went from $14.62 million for 2019 to $15.79 million for 2020. There is a 7.9% increase from 2019 due to statutory requirements the village must comply with for funding public safety pensions, officials said.

Corporate, capital and fire protection levies remained flat from 2019 to 2020.

A resident with a $350,000 market value property should see a property tax bill increase of about $51.65, officials said.
