Columnist misstated the record on elections

I just had to comment on the Dec. 10 article by Michael Barone, "Democrats reaping what they sowed on delegitimizing votes," because it sends an inaccurate message. To start with the title of the article is not true.

The author's objective, apparently, is to somehow defend the Trump administrations' bad behavior and continued false claims that the election was somehow fraudulent and, at the same time, legitimizing Trump's inappropriate actions recently and over the last four years. All the courts in the land have denounced his election claims, including the Supreme Court, yet Trump and the majority of the party cannot accept the final result. What are they afraid of? Why, of course, their forthcoming reelection bids. Trump might expose them as "traitors" to the cause.

This article would have you believe that the Democrats called the 2016 election illegitimate. This is absolutely untrue. They called Trump illegitimate from the standpoint of being unqualified to fill the position; he has certainly done a great job of proving this point.

Further, the author would suggest that the election was close by only referring to the numbers in the battleground states. The reality is Vice President Biden won handily both in the electoral, as well as, the popular vote.

In conclusion, I refer you to an article written by Nathan McDerrmott, CNN, Nov. 13: "The reality is, while the Democrats expressed disappointment at the 2016 election results, most of the party's leadership in Congress, the White House, and the Democratic National Convention, congratulated President-elect Trump within a day or two of his win. Hillary Clinton 'did not dispute the results,' and congratulated Trump the day after the election."
