Lake Barrington announces $50K grant program for restaurants

The Lake Barrington village board recently approved a $50,000 economic development grant program to assist local restaurants that have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Restaurant owners can receive a one-time grant of up to $10,000 for expenses, such as capital improvements, supplies and equipment. Anyone interested in applying should contact Village Administrator Karen Daulton Lange at KDLange@lakebarrington.org.

The grant program is part of a larger village campaign featuring direct mailings, advertising and a social media campaign asking residents to support local businesses.

"As we head into winter, we are all keenly aware of the significant strain a ban on indoor dining places on our restaurants. For years, these businesses have served as staples of our community and an important revenue generator that supports all village programs. As we all do our part to stop the spread of this virus, it is important (to) remember our restaurants and eateries and offer needed assistance," Village President Kevin Richardson said in a statement.

Earlier this year, the village waived business and liquor licensing fees for this fiscal year.
