Donations overflow in Naperville Park Police's 2020 Toys For Tots drive

Since mid-November, Naperville donors have been dropping off new, unwrapped toys at Naperville Park District facilities to assist the Park Police in collecting toys for children in need in the area.

The Naperville collection is part of the DuPage County Toys For Tots program, hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Park Police Chief Steven Schindlbeck estimates that the community donated more than 2,500 toys, which park police officers dropped off in 12 truckloads.

The collection ended Saturday, Dec. 12, with a rush of toy donations, adding three truckloads in just two days.

"It's been a privilege to be a part of a community that, at the height of a pandemic, still embraced the Toys For Tots program enough to donate record numbers of toys," said Park Police Chief Steven Schindlbeck. "It's very satisfying to know that we were able to play a part in bringing smiles to the faces of the children who will receive these toys."
