Arlington Heights man wins $5,000 in lottery

An Arlington Heights man won $5,000 on a lottery ticket that he purchased at a local liquor store.

John Pisors purchased his Fast Play ticket from Red Rooster at 1628 W. Northwest Highway, but it wasn't until two days later that he realized he was a winner.

"I was with a couple of buddies and decided to take out my ticket and look at it," Pisors said in an Illinois Lottery news release. "I saw I had three sevens and I said, 'I got a winner!' I didn't realize what the prize payout was until I looked at the bottom and I couldn't believe it!"

Pisors said he decided to try the game after seeing in the store that someone had recently won $500. He says he plans to share the winnings with his family and put the rest toward an annual golf trip.
