Township helping community in crisis
This has been a stressful year, presenting newfound pressures to many of our lives. We are being asked to adjust the way we do even the most basic of tasks and all the change can be exhausting. At Schaumburg Township, we want to make sure you know that we are here to help you weather this storm. Below are a few areas impacting people right now and how the Township is serving the community.
- Mental Health: The township partners with the Kenneth Young Center to provide mental health services to our area. We also fund several area agencies tackling issues like domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual abuse, homelessness and more.
- Physical Health: The township knows how important physical health is. We help promote healthy bodies through our virtual exercise programs and online resources to live classes. We also have a Community Health Nurse running a weekly diabetes support group and educational sessions to promote healthy lifestyles, even during the pandemic.
- Employment: the township's career coach offers free assistance in managing today's job workplace economy. For those looking for employment, the township can offer assistance in job search skills, resume building, interviewing tips and negotiation tools. Email our coach at empservices@schaumburgtownship.org.
- Financial Assistance: There are a litany of programs available to assist people during tough times and the township can help determine which programs you qualify for and help you apply. Programs address utilities, food insecurity, health care and more.
- Food Assistance: Residents in need can access our food pantry by appointment. Staff can also assist with SNAP applications.
