College of DuPage Trustee Maureen Dunne named to ACCT Public Policy Committee
College of DuPage Board of Trustee Maureen Dunne has been named to the Association of Community College Trustees Public Policy and Advocacy Committee. Dunne will serve throughout 2021.
COD Board of Trustees Chairman Frank Napolitano applauded Dunne for her new appointment.
"Trustee Dunne will be a fine representative for the ACCT to help advocate for community colleges nationally," he said. "Through her dedicated leadership and devotion to the community college system, Dunne is working to improve the lives of the people in our communities for years to come."
A COD graduate and Naperville resident, Dunne obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Chicago, a master's from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in cognitive sciences from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dunne co-founded, led and advised venture-backed technology companies. She is also the co-founder and Managing Partner of the Autism Angels Group, the first social impact investment association focused on neurodiversity. Dunne currently serves on the Governing Board Council of Advocate Health - Good Samaritan Hospital and as a board director for Access to Care and Aspiritech, as well as serving on the executive board of the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation.
A community leader, she is a member of Rotary and a co-founder of a nonprofit initiative that sponsors coding bootcamps.
The Association of Community College Trustees is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the U.S. and beyond.
College of DuPage is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving approximately 21,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The college grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
