Former Elgin Mental Health Center trainee arrested on ID theft charges

A former trainee at the Elgin Mental Health Center turned herself in to Joliet police Tuesday in connection to a 2019 identity theft investigation that brought four felony charges against her in August.

Kayla Brown of Country Club Hills was arrested and charged with four counts of identity theft.

The Illinois State Police began an investigation in April of 2019 after multiple allegations from Illinois Department of Human Services staff members arose against the 25-year-old.

Brown's bond was set at $20,000 and she was later released. Her court date is set for Feb. 10, 2021, at the Will County Courthouse.
