Elgin's Festival Park aglow in holiday lights

Traffic on Grove Avenue moved a little slower than usual Tuesday evening as drivers took in the sights at Elgin's Festival of Lights.

The display will be on from 5 to 9 p.m. each evening through Sunday, Dec. 27, in the vast green space of the park at 132 S. Grove Ave., just north of the Grand Victoria Casino. While plenty of street parking is available to take in the lights from your car, many people got out and strolled around to take pictures and get a closer look.

Sofia Perez of Elgin brought her dog Chuy out for a walk Tuesday night. "I'm not sure he cares about the lights," she said. "But he likes to smell them."

An enhanced show will take place Thursdays through Sundays, with three holiday-themed songs playing on the half-hour from 5 to 8:30 p.m. while lights dance and twinkle to the music.
