Carpentersville man pleads guilty in drug death
A 27-year-old Carpentersville man has admitted to providing heroin to a 26-year-old who died earlier this year from an overdose.
Antwon Hawkins Jr. entered a guilty plea to one felony count of drug-induced homicide on Dec. 4, McHenry County prosecutors announced Wednesday.
The case centered around the overdose death of a 26-year-old who was found unresponsive on Feb. 13 after ingesting heroin, according to a news release from the McHenry County state's attorney's office.
An investigation by the North Central Narcotics Task Force revealed that the deceased contacted Hawkins to obtain drugs.
Prosecutors said Hawkins drove to the victim's house and delivered heroin on at least two separate occasions, including the day the victim died.
